Search engine optimization (SEO) is a critical facet of any successful online presence. It can create awareness and website traffic, lead generation, and online and offline revenue. But can social media play a role in propelling SEO forward? According to a recent article by Adam T. Sutton, More Organic Conversions from Social, the answer is yes. When mixing social media and SEO, a 2011 Search Benchmark Report by MarketingSherpa found a 27 percent conversion rate for organic search traffic as compared with 17 percent who don’t use social media. This could be because social media is known to increase a brand’s reputation, a brand’s social-media profile will create more results and seem thereby more credible, and addition links on the SERPs push down relevant competitors. With this panoply of reasons, isn’t it time for your company to jump into the social-media pond?
